Why is corrugated box called eco-friendly packaging?
Jun 07, 2023
First, the raw materials of corrugated boxes
The raw materials of corrugated boxes are not as everyone thinks, simply consuming a lot of wood. The raw material of corrugated carton is actually pulp, and there are many materials that can be used as cartons. For example, straw stalks, wood, waste paper, wheat orange stalks, etc. After beating these materials into pulp, they can be used to make cartons.
Second, the environmental protection characteristics of corrugated boxes
1. Corrugated boxes have strong degradability
As we all know, plastic packaging is an extremely unenvironmentally friendly packaging product, because plastic packaging has extremely low degradability, buried in the ground, and may not be destroyed after a few years of digging. The degradability of corrugated boxes is relatively strong, even if someone randomly throws a corrugated box in the field, it will not have any impact on the environment, because it will be naturally decomposed.
2. Corrugated boxes are recyclable
Corrugated boxes are highly recyclable, and many waste pickers will pick up the boxes to sell to the waste station. Including corrugated carton manufacturers, the cardboard waste and waste cartons generated during the production of cartons will be packaged and sold to waste paper recycling companies. This waste paper is transported to the paperboard production company, and through the papermaking process, it is re-beaten into pulp to make corrugated paper.
3. Corrugated packaging can effectively reduce microbial cross-contamination, thereby extending shelf life
Relevant data show that plastic-packed fruits and vegetables usually reach the level of decay 48~72 hours earlier than corrugated carton packaging. Using corrugated boxes instead of traditional plastic boxes to pack fruit can significantly reduce potential microbial contamination and keep fruits and vegetables fresh.
